How to Achieve Academic Excellence

Achieving academic excellence requires principles. These principles are established laws that work for anyone who cares to apply them. Just as we have certain laws in life, academic excellence is also guided by laws, and these laws will work for anyone even if you consider yourself to be an average student. A car, for example, can only be moved from rest to the desired location by applying the principles upon which the car works. If you do not apply the principles such as turning on the ignition, removing the car from gear and pressing the turtle, there’s nothing that will move the car.

Below are some principles that will guarantee your success as a student no matter if its dissertation writing or any other academic task.

Set goals

a goal, in simple terms, is writing down a specific thing you want to achieve within a specified time. and, yes, it has to be written.

goals have a way of energising the one who set it. it is much like a basketball game. when playing the game of basketball, your main goal is to put the ball right into the net. so how does a student set academic goals?

let’s have this quick example of a science student who set these goals for some of his subjects:

physics 85%, chemistry 90%, biology 78%, mathematics 75%, et cetera. you will notice that each of these goals are specific.

Attend classes regularly and punctually

there are certain pictures or words or discussions that take place in class, and these are usually in connection with what is being taught. these things have a way of sticking to your memory if you are the type who attends classes. and when it is time for examination, it’s pretty much easy to remember all that class illustration. besides, your level of comprehension of your notes will be faster than what you would have experienced if you hadn’t attended classes. however, if you have not been attending classes, you might have to resort to assignment help much of the time.

Revise notes you receive as soon as possible.

doing this when it is still fresh makes it stick to your memory. however, if allowed to linger, you would have started forgetting some things.

Solve questions about the topic you just learnt

your reading cannot be said to be complete if you have not solved questions on what you have read. solving questions is much like practising more on your own how to ride a bicycle after you have first been taught how to ride it. do assignments given, and don’t hesitate to ask for help whenever you get stuck. recently, an australian student had to type:”assignment help australia” in order to access assignment help for the work he was asked to do.

Join a study group

this works a lot. the best way to sharpen an iron is to use another iron to sharpen it. what this implies is that a study group helps to strengthen your weak areas academically and helps to enhance an understanding of what you were taught. in a study group, members speak the ‘language’ they understand. the language a teacher speaks is sometimes different from the one students speak.

we have established the fact that achieving academic excellence was a matter of knowing the principles that make it work and applying those principles.

some of the principles mentioned were goal setting, attending classes regularly and punctually, revising notes as soon as they are received, solving questions on whatever topic that might have been read, and of course, joining a study group.

In this second part, we shall highlight other principles that enhance academic success for students.

they include the following

Maximising the early hours of the morning

why this principle? you will agree that the morning is one of the most important part of a day. in the early hours of the morning, everywhere is still, the weather is cool and learning and comprehension of whatever is being read become much easier.

scientifically, one’s energy level is high in the early hours of the morning. however, there are no hard and fast rules for when to study. it’s much more important for you to know what works well for you. some persons prefer the morning while some others do well at night. so, stick to what works best for you.

Develop habit of consistency

someone said that champions become who they are as a result of the things they do every day. one of the best habits you can form as a student who wants to achieve academic excellence consistently is the habit of consistency. for example, do you know that if you read for 1 hour every day, you would have read over fifty books in one year? now, let’s narrow it down to academic pursuit. if you form the habit of reading consistently for one hour daily, you will not only attain academic excellence, you would also have maintained academic excellence in your life as an individual. to cultivate the habit of consistency, discipline is the key.

Be at least one step ahead of the class

doing this means you are proactive. so, when the instructor or teacher teaches that topic you have read, you will listen to the teaching with an informed mind. apart from that, you can ask from the teacher questions which you encountered while reading the topic.

Be prepared for challenges

yes, challenges will come, and it’s best to prepare for those challenges. bottlenecks could arise from anywhere or anything. having a ready-made mind for this makes you not to be caught unawares. the challenges could be as a result of illness, weather condition, unplanned events, disease outbreak, et cetera.

Practise, practise, and practise

The more you practise, you more you are likely to achieve academic excellence. use acronyms for points in order to recall them fast. sometimes, a song may be necessary to learn certain things. looks weird? try it, it works!
